The soccer fields of Palm Beach Gardens was like a second home for Ryan Rogers and his family. Ryan played there with his younger brother, Justin. His mother, Cindy, was a parent coach for many of those seasons. Ryan joined the Predators soccer club when he was only 4 years old and played with the league until November 2021 when his life ended, attacked while riding his bicycle just down the street from those soccer fields. Although only 14, Ryan made an impact on and off the field, touching the lives of so many people, especially those in the soccer community. The Board Members of the PBGYAA Soccer club spent months thinking about how they could honor Ryan. They came up with a few ways, including donating a bench in honor of Ryan with a dedication and ribbon cutting in March 2022, the league put a red number 7 on every jersey in the club for the Spring season 2022. All 1,300 players ran with Ryan that season. The club added Ryans name to the U15 Boys top seed Playoff Championship trophy which now reads Ryan Rogers World Cup. The club did not stop there, they also renamed its scholarship fund. For years, they have used money from concessions to help send kids to college. Now, that money comes with Ryans name.

Ryan and Justin would often accompany their mother to the fields she played as part of the Diva Soccer league for the last 10 years, Ryan played a pickup game with her co-ed team the year before he passed and kept asking when they could play again. Ryan also started working as a side line referee for the Youth recreation and Youth travel games in the Fall of 2021. He loved soccer, so in honor of Ryan and all the time shared with his mother, brother and so many others at the soccer fields, the annual Ryan Rogers Remembrance Tournament has been born. All proceeds from the Soccer Tournament will go to benefit the Ryan Rogers Scholarship Fund at the PBGYAA Soccer Club.

Sentiments from the PBGYAA Soccer Club Ryan Rogers Scholarship Donation Page

It is said that when a person's name is said out loud it honors the life they lived, and that person will always be a part of those who come after them.

Ryan Rogers was a ten-year player in our soccer league, starting as a 4 year old and was looking forward to his chance to be a referee and high school player in our recreation soccer program as a soon to be 15 year old. Ryan's life was taken to soon at the end of 2021.

While Ryan will not have the opportunity to spread his wings and leave our soccer fields moving on to college, each child that will be provided a scholarship will take Ryan with them. We know he will be a guiding light of strength and courage as each student moves on in their young life.

The Ryan Rogers Scholarship Fund will be distributed each Spring to those graduating seniors who apply and are awarded a scholarship.
